My Labor Story

It was Wednesday June 26th, my last day at work. I had a doctors appt. at 10:30 to check the progress of everything and make the final details on inducing me on Friday the 28th. Since I had arrived at work in the morning my back had been hurting. This wasn't anything new my back had hurt all throughout my pregnancy. I walked around for a little bit and then sat back down at my desk. As I was sitting it felt as though the baby had punched down with all his might. I remember saying, " Ouch, that one kind of hurt!" I stood up and then the water started to flow. My water broke!! I couldn't believe it! I looked up at Cherie and said "Oh my God, my water just broke!" I called Jonathan right away and luckily he was at the pit and said he would try to get home as fast as he could!

I got in my car and headed to the house. I tried to call my Mom but didn't get an answer. Next I called my grandma, luckily my Mom was there and she said she would be at my house right away. I then called the doctors office and let them know I was going to the hospital. When I got to my house I ran inside to the bathroom and just stood in the tub until my Mom got there. ( I was still leaking fluid and lots of it!) When Mom arrived she got all of our belongings together and put them in the car. Then she kept asking me if I was having any contractions. I couldn't feel any contractions but my back was killing me! Come to find out later I having back labor. Jonathan finally got home and away we went to the hospital.

Once we arrived at the hospital they sent us straight to our own room. Our nurse Terry came in and started me on an IV and asked if I needed any pain meds or if I was going to do an epidural. I had original planned to try and stray away from pain meds, and an epidural just scared the crap out of me. After she explained the differences between just meds or epidural I felt a little more at ease but still wanted to wait it out. She then checked and I was dilated to a 4 and completely effaced, this was at 12. They then started the pitocin to help things keep moving along but the Pitocin made the contractions come faster and stronger and I could definitely feel them now! At around 2:30 I could no longer take it and asked for the epidural. By this time I was dilated to a 6 and my contractions were very close together so they shut off the Pitocin. Let me just tell you that the Epidural was a god send! After getting the epidural I was actually able to enjoy labor and have a wonderful birthing experience. The nurse came in about 5:45 and said I was fully dialted and we would start pushing in about 10 minutes. My nurse Terry was AMAZING! She was great at coaching me through each push and kept both me and Jonathan up beat. Finally after what seemed like waiting forever, I began pushing at 5:55pm. With Jonathan by my side helping me through each push 20 minutes later we welcomed our perfect little boy into the world.

As he was coming out they had to hurry and cut the cord because it was wrapped around his neck twice. They then laid him upon my chest, I was speechless. After waiting 9 long months I finally got to see my baby boy. The nurse then took him got his weight and measurements, wrapped him up and handed him back to me. While all this was going on the doctors were working on me. After holding him for what seemed liked only a few seconds but was more like 5 minutes they asked Jonathan to take the baby. I was bleeding a lot and they couldn't seem to figure out from where. I spent the next 30 minutes just watching Jonathan hold and love on Parker while I laid there helplessly. Finally the doctor stopped the bleeding and was able to stitch me back up. When Parker was coming out he had tore my cervix from the inside so that is why they couldn't see it. Luckily everything was ok and I was cleaned up and then got to enjoy my new bundle of joy!!

Giving birth was a feeling I can not explain but I can tell you that seeing Parkers beautiful face every morning makes everything worth while. He is my everything and my love for him is unending.

Welcome to the World, Parker!

On June 26th 2013 we welcomed our precious baby boy Parker Wallace Eide. He was born at Memorial Hermann in Sugarland at 6:16pm weighing 7lbs. 9oz. and measuring 20 inches long.

He is perfect and we couldn't be more blessed to have a healthy baby boy!

WCYF Part 2

Fair week continued for us on Wednesday when Jacob did his Mutton' Bustin'. This was his 1st and last year he could ride. ( I wish I would have put him in it last year!) I was just hoping he was in a good mood when I got home from work and hoping he was still up to the challenge. Well when I got home he was in a funky and I mean funky mood. We tried everything to cheer him up, nothing was working. Finally before heading out there we stopped by Snoball and asked if he wanted some ice. ( He had on a white shirt and we didn't want him to make a mess.) Once he got his Snoball ice he brightened up real fast!! We headed to the Fair and got ready for his Mutton' Bustin'. We got to the Fair and they lined all the kids up, Jacob was first. I really didn't want him to be first since he had never done it before. But I gave him a few pointers and told him to hang on as tight as he could! They geared him up and he was ready to go! He climbed onto the sheep, got a good grip, and the countdown started.....The gate flew open and he hung on as best as he could! He made it almost all the way to the other side of the arena! When he fell off he stood up, high-fived one of the volunteers, and walked off like a true cowboy!! I was so proud of him!! He scored an 84 and was the leader! He remained the leader as all the other children barely made it out of the gate or barely made it half way. That was until the end when the last little boy from EC rode. He did just as good as Jacob and the judges gave him a score of 85! Both of the boys did a great job and we couldn't have been more proud of Jacob!! When it was finished he was grinning ear to ear and said he had sooo much FUN! Although he did have to show me where the sheep trampled him! LOL! He recieved a t-shirt and a button. He proudly wore his button to school the next day and loves to wear his t-shirt he got!

The pictures are poor quality but I still haven't received the originals yet, and couldn't wait any longer to post. Sorry :(
Jacob hanging on tight!

As he says it, "I got trampled"

My lil' cowboy!

Afterwards with his huge smile and t-shirt!

The next evening was when he showed his Bucket Calf. My Mom, So, got him from school and they loaded up Kasey and took her to the fair. We were suppose to meet them after we got off of work but the Bucket Calf show started earlier this year and by the time we got out there he was already done showing. Jonathan and I were so upset that we missed it but Jacob didn't seem to mind. Of course he had his SoSo there to watch and help him. But I find a great picture of him on the Fair website, and yes I'm still waiting on that original to come in as well. SoSo said Jacob did a good job but was not in any mood to hang around. It was way too cold he said. The weather is past year during the Fair has been crazy! Usually it is steaming hot and this year it was freezing! CRAZY! Anyways here is Jacob with his Bucket Calf.

Friday night was our last night for Fair activites. Both the kids were in Family Fun Night. Usually they do Family Fun night on Monday but for some ungodly reason they had it on Friday night. As you can tell I was not a happy camper about the switch and that is only the beginning. They asked all children participating in Family Fun Night to be there at 7:30 ready to go. We were there at 7:00 they lined all the kids up and set them on the bleachers. They were finishing up another event and then they were 'suppose' to do the Pig Chase. YEA RIGHT! They made all the kids wait while the older kids got together, lined up and started a new event. They made the 6-7, 8-9, and 10-11 year olds wait until 9:30 before they started the Pig Chase event. I was not happy at all about this. And they will definitely hear about it from this unhappy Momma. Not only to make matters worse when Rheannas group was doing the pig chase she caught a pig and not one of the adult leaders helped her get it across the line. The pig ended up getting away and then when she caught another one the same thing happened. I was royally pissed off at this point!! I tried not to let the kids see that I was upset but did tell both of them how extremely proud of them I was and its not their fault no one was there to help them. OK, my ranting is over now. Lol! I couldn't get a good picture of Jacob but did get one of Rheanna.

Overall we had a great time at the Fair this year with only a few mishaps. We will be back next year and ready for more action!!

WCYF 2013 Part 1

We had one busy weekend! Friday we went to the ELKS Lodge for supper. They had yummy rib-eye steaks, baked potatoes, and green beans. I ate so much but it was very good!! We had a great time visiting with everyone and finally headed home about 10. Early Saturday morning like 6:00am both Jonathan and Jacob left and headed out to deer camp with Brad and the boys. A bunch of the guys from camp went to go deliver their 'new' toy, a Maintainer! Rheanna and I woke up around 8:30, we both got to sleep in a little late!! Thank goodness! We started cleaning house and tried to get everything in order for the following week. Since it is Fair time we will be there 90% of the time. We finally got done and then went to go get groceries. Once we got back Rheanna put up the groceries so I could jump in the shower before we had to head out and get Shelby ready for the Jr. Miss Pageant. We got the Shelby's house about 1:00 and started doing her hair and make-up! We got a little behind but still made it out to the Fair for her interview at 3:00. The Jr. Miss Pageant started at 6:00pm. Shelby did a great job and we were very proud of her!!

Shelby and Rhea

Rheanna showed her Broilers on Sunday. We did not use the same feed as last year and the weather was so chaotic this year that we knew right away our birds were not going to do well. But Jonathan still tried to keep our hopes up. The morning of the show Rheanna went to go check on her birds and 1 of her good birds had died. This only made matters worse but we still tried to keep calm and not let Rhea see the frustration we had. We got to the Fair and checked in our birds. First was the Roaster Show and then the Broilers Show. We were called into the first class which wasn't a good sign. :( This is the lower end of the birds. We placed at the bottom and Rheanna was devastated! She had worked hard and got up every morning and evening to do her birds. The only other thing she could do was place in Showmanship. We told her she knew everything about her birds since she was the one who took care of them and it was all up to her now to show the Judge just how hard she worked. Remember to smile, talk loud, make eye contact, don't fidget, and be confident are the things we told her as she entered the ring again for Showmanship. As the Judge went down the line talking to each individual kids I anxiously awaited until he got to Rhea. I probably looked like a crazy Mom standing on the bleachers to see her and smiling really big so she could see me and not forget to smile!! But apparently it worked and she placed 3rd in Showmanship and received a super nice blanket! That just made her day and we couldn't have been more proud of her! As far as the actual Broilers themselves, well better luck next year!!

28 Weeks and Growing...

So Monday I had my glucose test. I got to the doctors office at 8:00, I was then sent to the lab to drink a nice little orange drink, which by the way was not bad at all! Everyone states just how yucky these drinks are but it really didn't taste too bad. It was very sweet but did leave aftertaste that wasn't too pleasant. Once I drank the juice the ladies told me to come back in an hour. So I had an hour to waste. I didn't want to sit at the doc office just waiting, so I made to a quick trip to the local Wal-Mart. I figured I could get some walking done while there and check out some baby items and do some price checks. After walking around Wal-Mart as long as I could I headed back to the clinic. They drew blood in both arms! Ouch! Afterwards I headed in to see my doc. He checked the heartbeat which is still a strong beat of 155! And he felt around on my tummy to make sure I was growing and so was the baby. "Yep!" he said, "You are definitely growing, already up to your ribs! The baby is still head up which is not a big deal he still has plenty of time to turn down. And right now he is probably doing a lot of moving around anyways." The doc's office called me the following day and said I passed my glucose test but needed to take an additional iron pill.
Jonathan wasn't able to go with me to this appt. which was fine, he has been to every other appt. My next appt. is April 29th. This is when the doc said we will find out exactly how big the baby is and he will be categorized as a small or big baby, etc. Then after this appt. I will go to see him every other week until the baby is born! Getting close! I am really excited for our next appt. I can't wait to see Parker! I am really hoping to get a profile pic this time! I think he is going to be a 'big' baby! But only time will tell! We have also opted out of getting a 3D Ultrasound done. Jonathan said since we already know its a boy it should be a surprise as to what he looks like! I am totally down with that!

28 weeks and 4 days!

Uncle Mikey's 21st Birthday!

Last Friday April 5th 2013 Michael Orsak Jr. turned 21!! Yes, you read it right! 21! Who would have thought?! Any who, Mikey called us and said that we were all going to meet at Los Cucos and have supper together for his Birthday! That sounded mighty good to me! We all met up at Los Cucos at 7:00 and of course everyone else was already there when we got there, Mom, Dad, Mikey, Patricia, and Patricia's parents. We had a great meal and all the guys had the drinks flowing. Yum! Sure wish I could of had one! LOL! Of course we had to tell the waitstaff it was his birthday! We had a nice evening with great food and laughs! Happy Birthday Uncle Mikey!!

Someones embarrassed!

Gotcha!

Rhea, So, & Jake

Patricia got in on the fun too!

Rhea didn't want to be left out either!

Jake's humor will have you rolling...

So, we all know how Jacob is and what a character he can be sometimes I mean, all the time!! He keeps us laughing and sometimes to the point of crying. I have been writing down every time he really cracks us up, so I could write one big post. So here we go....

One night, after supper, the kids cleaned up and came to the living room to watch some TV. I was relaxing in my recliner and Jonathan was on the couch. Jacob came into the living room dancing around and acting silly/weird. I looked over at Jonathan and said, "You mean to tell me we are having another one of those..." Jacob stopped and said very calmly, "Hey, he may not be exactly like me, he might be smart!" We died with laughter and couldn't stop! The things that come out of his mouth are priceless! On the other hand I don't know why would say something like that since we tell him how great he is doing in school and praise him all the time for his good work. Oh the things he says....

When the Easter egg hunt was wrapping up at Grandma Drapelas the boys, Jonathan and Jacob, left with Uncle Billy and headed to Deer Camp to just get away for a while. When they returned home Jonathan had plenty of stories to tell me. First he pulled out this long stick that looked like a giant hook. He said Jacob had found it on the ground and said, "Look its a show stick!" Jonathan asked, "What? What is a show stick?" Jacob responded saying, "You know a show stick," picking up the stick and referencing it to look like he was yanking on something he said, "You know a 'get out of the show' stick!" I just laughed and laughed!

Next Jonathan told me that when they pulled up to camp there were quite a few trees that were dead and starting to fall over. So when they went for a ride in the Jeep they came across a giant tree that had fell over in the road and Jonathan barely made it through all the limbs. Jacob said, "Woo, this is a dangerous back way with all these trees, thank goodness we have Life Alert!" Jonathan looked at him and said, "Do what? We don't have Life Alert." Jacob replied, "Yes, we do! You are old and we have Life Alert! Thank goodness if we get lost we can just push a button and they will come get us."  Seriously, where does he come up with this stuff!! (Just in case you are wondering how he knows about the Life Alert thing, the other day I found a video that had been posted to Facebook of an older lady just dancing her heart out. I showed Jonathan and the kids wanted to watch too. The older lady had a Life Alert button hanging from her neck, so he must have picked it up from that.)

This is just a few of the examples of what living with Jacob is like. At the least he keeps us on our toes! I can't imagine what it is going to be like in a few years when Parker is old enough to talk. I can't wait!!

The lovely Jake!!

Easter Fun

This year for Easter was a busy one! This year I called everyone from Jonathan's side of the family to do an Easter get together at our house. It turned out better than we could have imagined! Everyone had lots of fun including the kids and the lunch was pretty tasty, if I might say so myself. I had seasoned a pork roast earlier in the week and Saturday morning I woke up extra earlier and left the house by 6:45 to take it to my parents house and put it on their BBQ pit. (My dad has a great pit where the fire is low to the ground and it just cooks so much better than ours.) So Saturday morning I spent most of my time with my Dad. It was nice to spend some much needed father daughter time with him. But it was short lived since I had to get back to the house and finish cooking the potatoes, sweet corn, BBQ sauce, and gravy. Everyone arrived at our house at 12. And about 12:20 we said the blessing, got a plate, and we headed outside to eat. It was such a beautiful day I didn't want to waste a single minute of it inside! After we finished eating, the kids started playing so this gave me the perfect opportunity to go hide the Easter eggs in the front yard! Then the real fun happened when I lined the kids up, counted to 3, and off they went, finding lots and lots of Easter eggs! We all enjoyed visiting on the front porch for a little while longer and then everyone headed home to take a much needed nap! We really enjoyed all the company and plan to do it again next year!

Ready, Set, Go!

Once everyone left we cleaned up from lunch and headed over to Dawns house. The whole gang was over there and we visited for a while before their big Easter egg hunt started. There was lots of kiddos who did the hunt! Afterwards I had the kids eat really quick and then we had to leave. I know the kids and Jonathan really wanted to stay longer and so did I, but my Aunt Debbie was getting confirmed this same night at the Easter Vigil Mass and I really wanted to attend. So we headed out and they dropped me off at Church before they headed home. Although I didn't get home til 10:45pm the mass was beautiful and I was glad I could be there for Debbie.

Sunday morning I woke everyone up early and we all got dressed and headed to 7am Mass. Boy was it packed! Luckily they brought me a chair to sit on so I didn't have to stand the whole Mass. After Mass we stopped by Jack-n-Box to pick up some breakfast and I snapped this shot of us while waiting in line.
After Church getting some breakfast.
Next we headed to Grandma Drapelas Easter. This is always a highlight for the kids and us. We enjoy getting to see all the cousins, aunts, and uncles and eat some great food. There is always so much for the kids to do over there and too many kids to count to play with! The Easter egg hunt at Grandma Drapelas is always a big one! They have lots of great prizes in the eggs as well. Jacob racked up this year on money, $14. Rheanna had to be in the 'big' kid hunt this year but also racked in $5.00 and $5.00 worth of Lotto tickets.

Overall we had a great Easter weekend! I was one tired Momma after getting up early all weekend long but anything to make my family happy and to have lots of great memories! Until next time.....God Bless!

Another Doc Appt.

Last week we had another doc. appt. I was 23 weeks. Everything is still on track and looking good. Nothing special about this appt. although I was a little upset, I gained 9 lbs!!! Holy cow! The doc told me it was because later in pregnancy, like where I am now, your metabolism starts to slow down. He said I am probably still eating the same but my body is just processing everything slower now. Bummer!!! He suggested to slow down on carbs and eat plenty of veggies and fruit. And that if I wanted carbs like pasta, potatoes, etc. eat them earlier in the day not at night. He said it isn't affecting the baby and its not a bad thing it will just help me to lose the weight faster after I have the baby. Our next appt. is scheduled for April 8th, this when we will do the lovely glucose screening test I keep hearing about. Yay! Not!! I hope everything goes well at that appt. I really don't want to have to go back and do the 3 hr. test! That would be no fun at all! Oh, we also have a Birthing Class to attend on Sunday. It is at our hospital in Sugarland and is from 9-3:30. Jonathan isn't too thrilled about going but I think it will be greatly beneficial to me and a refresher course for him. I have also been reading about different delivery methods and also the different care methods once the baby is born. So, I am really curious as to what is all going to be taught at this class. We have a semi-birthing plan in the works but are waiting to really finalize it after this class. I am really looking forward to it, if you can't already tell!

On other note, we are almost completely done on Parker's room. Grandma Drapela and Aunt Mary Kay finished the bedding and it looks AWESOME!! I love it all! As soon as I got home I put it all together! Everything is coming together and is looking fabulous! Here is a pic of the bedding:

Jakes 7th Birthday!

Yesterday was Jacobs 7th Birthday! My little man is growing up so fast! I can't believe he is 7 already, seems like just the other day he was 4! He is becoming a young man so fast but nothing can take away his wonderful personality. He is my social butterfly and loves to talk. He doesn't like being by himself and is always surrounded by people. Sundays he is rarely at our house, he goes over to the neighbors (Mrs. Lori and Dwayne). Their grand kids are usually there every Sunday and he loves to play with all the kids. Every time I go to visit with them they have some crazy and silly story to tell me about what Jake did or said. He is smart as a whip and has done excellent this year in school. (I think he just needed the extra time to mature and get use to a school schedule.) He reads to me every night when doing his homework. Sometimes he gets bored of reading the same ole' books, as he says, but I have to remind him its only helping him remember all his words! He still gives us greats laughs almost everyday. He can make anyone smile just by giving them the Jake look. Ok, I have a short story to tell.....The other day after supper I had retired to my recliner and Jonathan on the couch. Jake came into the living room after brushing his teeth and started dancing and acting silly. Looking at Jake I said, "Oh lord, you mean to tell me we are having another one of those." Jake stopped and said, "Hey, he may not be exactly like me... he might be smart!" Jonathan and I rolled laughing. From the mouths of babes! I hope he does not grow out of his humorous ways. This is our Jake and what he has been like this past year. We look forward to seeing how he grows, matures, and learns this year as a 7 year old! Happy Birthday Jake the Snake!

We celebrated Jake's Birthday this year at Mr. Gattis with Daddy, Momma, Rheanna, Baby Parker, SoSo and Mo. This year his birthday fell on a Wednesday so after CCE we all met at Mr. Gattis and filled our tummies full of pizza. Momma made the cake and since both Rhea and Jake gave up chocolate for Lent, we had a funfetti cake with vanilla icing and sprinkles! Jake got cards from SoSo and Mo, Mrs. Lori & Dwayne, and us of course. Rhea gave him a toy alligator and pencil. Daddy and Momma gave him a Nintendo DSI. Afterwards, we played a few games and then headed home. Jake also got a few sweet calls from his Grandpa Jerry, Aunt Dawn, and Uncle JC. He may not be a great speaker on the phone but I did happen to hear him say Thank You! to each one that called.

Its a ......BOY!!!

So Thursday we had our 2nd ultrasound and another doc. visit. I was so excited I could barely contain myself! I couldn't wait to see our little bundle of joy! Our appt. was scheduled at 2:00 but both Jonathan and I took off at noon to do some running around first. I stopped off at Faith Lutheran Daycare to check it out. I was very happy with the facility and all the ladies seemed very nice. I liked that the daycare was smaller and it seemed more personal. We still haven't decided exactly what we are going to do once the baby is born but I will return to work. I would rather have a private sitter in my home for a few months before Baby E. goes to daycare, but we shall see. Once I got done at the daycare we grabbed some lunch and headed to Wharton to our doc appt.

We got there a little early probably because I was so excited! As soon as we got there they called us back for the Ultrasound. I let the sonogramer know that we were having a Gender Reveal Party and if she could tell what the baby was I had a piece of paper for her to write it down on and also an envelope to put it in. She loved the idea! She started the ultrasound and man was Baby E active! We got a few pictures but could not get a face shot! She wrote down what gender the baby was and sent us on our way. We next visited the doc which is always great! I love our doc and he always makes Jonathan laugh. I had a few concerns since I hadn't gained any weight yet but he reassured me everything was fine and Baby E is growing like a weed! Around 10 oz. right now! He told me not to worry the weight gain will come later plus that is less for me to lose later! He did tell me to start eating or drinking more calcium or gave me some Caltrate chewable vitamins to eat with lunch and dinner. We scheduled our next appt. for 4 weeks later.

We then headed to Sugarland to do our baby registry at Target. Wow, was that a task! It took us quite some time to complete this task but Jonathan was a good sport about it all. He was also a big help with picking out things and saying what we needed and didn't need. Kinda glad he has done this before but somethings are new to him too! Once we finally finished our registry we headed to Olive Garden to have an early Valentines Day date. It was a great day and wonderful evening. Now we just had to wait until Saturday to find out what our bundle of joy would be...Boy or Girl?!

Saturday couldn't come fast enough. Everything was set up so nice at Carrie and Billy's house. Kris and Carrie did a great job with the decorating. There was lots of blue and pink everywhere! Finally the time came to do the Gender Announcement!!! I could barely control my excitement! Everyone gathered and we counted the votes...18 Boy and 16 Girl. The plan was for Carrie to wind the jack-in-the-box and the animal would pop out. Well....everyone was surprised she turned it once and POP! the horse jumped out with a blue ribbon on it! Its a BOY!!!! I was so happy I couldn't believe it was true! I had wanted a little boy from the first time we found out we were pregnant! Plus we already had a boy name picked out Parker Wallace Eide. We love this name! Parker was a name we immediately agreed on and Wallace was Jonathan's grandpa Eide's middle name. I am really looking forward to boots, blue jeans, and caps from now on! Boys are a handful but so much fun! We are really looking forward to meeting Parker!!

Parker's Spine

Its a Boy!

We want to send a special Thank You to Kris Linzza and Carrie Drapela for setting everything up and giving us such a wonderful Gender Reveal Party. All your hard work was greatly appreciated!

Baby's Room

So, for the past few weeks we have been working on the baby's room. The room before was our junk/storage/suppose to be office, that was until we found out we were expecting! Since then we have cleaned out the room and organized all the stuff that was in it. The room needed some attention and love to it so that is what we have been doing. Everything we did in the baby room just needed to be updated to our liking. We replaced the closet doors and frame, put in baseboards, replaced trim around the windows, and replaced the bedroom door and frame. We also painted the room. I have kept Jonathan busy the past a few weekends but we are loving the outcome of the room. We also plan to change Jacob and Rheanna's closet doors and frame to the same way we did the baby's. I didn't get any pics of the room before, I know shame on me! And in the pictures below we hadn't put the closet doors in yet, they were still drying from painting. We did however manage to get the crib set up this past Sunday and it went together fairly easy! Jacob of course wanted to help and is so excited for the baby to come! I also found a changing table/dresser combo off a for sale site in Wharton county. I sanded it down and painted it white to match the other furniture as well. We are slowly making progress and I can't wait to find out if the baby is a boy or girl, then the real fun will begin, DECORATING!! The baby's room is going to be a fairly modern, up to date room. Classy and elegant. Our color scheme is gray and white and depending on what the baby is, accents of navy blue or purple/pink. Here are a few pics of the room and Daddy and Jacob putting together the crib:
