Halloween 2011

I know I'm a little late about getting around to our Halloween.....but like always we are busy little bees!

This year for Halloween Rheanna wanted to be a Werewolf and Jacob wanted to be a Ninja. And you know me I hate to spend more money than I have to! Both their costumes could be made with minimal effort. Rhea really wanted a mask for her costume. The mask costs $20! No way! So we put our bargain shopping minds together, and figured we could buy the paints for her face $2.00 and I could tease her hair to look like a werewolves hair. She was pretty excited about that! She also borrowed Chases' 'holy' jeans, and I found a button down flannel shirt on sale for $5! Which was a double whammy, because she can also wear the shirt at deer camp as well. Jacob on the other hand could care less what he wore as long as it looked like a Ninja! or as he would say it "Minja". All I had to do for Jacob was buy a long sleeve black shirt and some red material from the fabric department to complete his costume.
This year Nana wanted to do Halloween early, so we had our own Halloween party Sunday night (the night before Halloween). She made green chili stew, and regular chili. They were both delicious! She wanted to see the kids dressed up in their costumes this night also. I will have to say I was a little nervous about doing Rheannas make-up for her costume. I had never really done Halloween make-up before. But it came out great and I LOVED her teased hair!!! Jacob looked pretty cool too!! We had a great time at Nana's house, the grown-ups got to sit back and relax, and the kids listened to SpOoKy music and roasted marshmallows. Here are a few pics of our Pre-Halloween Party:

We had a great Halloween! We got lots of candy! On Halloween we took Molly with us trick-or-treating which was very interesting to say the least! We ended the night at Kyle and Becca's house with Kellyn they had 'silver turtles' for supper and boy were they yummy! Overall we had a great Halloween!!!

Pumpkins Galore!

We finally got around to carving pumpkins the other day! Last year the kids tried helping but as soon as they stuck their hand in the pumpkin and pulled it out, it was enough for them! (They didn't like the way it felt) This year on the other hand, they both helped cut and clean the pumpkins. Rheanna was excited cause she got to use her pocket knife that Mo and So had given her for her birthday! Jacob helped just a little bit, he said that they (the pumpkins) were stinky! He was pretty much our entertainment while we carved.
Jacob wanted the scary face pumpkin this year and Rheanna wanted hers to have vampire teeth. Jonathan also got me a BIG pumpkin! I needed some practice before our wedding! (We are using pumpkins in part of our wedding decor, carving our initials in some of them.) All pumpkins turned out pretty good!! Here's a few pics!

Daddy had to step in and help a little bit....

The kids also decorated pumpkins with SoSo to enter in the Library's Pumpkin Contest. I thought they did an Awesome job! They didn't place but got Honorable Mention! Rheanna decorated hers like a black cat, and Jacob decorated his like a Frankenstein Gobblin!

All in all we have been pretty busy and with Deer Camp, Thanksgiving, and Christmas right around the corner it is only going to get worse! Whew! I am getting tired just thinking about it! I am excited about Deer Camp this year! Rhea might be able to shot her first animal (hog, deer, coyote, etc.)! She still needs a little practice but she is a good learner, so I'm not to worried about it!
Well Until Next Time................God Bless!

Pumpkin Patch 2011

We got to the Pumpkin Patch this year around 9:15, in just enough time to take a few pictures, jump on the moon bounce, and high-tail it out of there. The RAIN finally came!!!! It was AWESOME! The rain was beautiful, and thank you God for sending it our way! The kids had fun picking out their pumpkins and can't wait to carve them. They each got 2 this year, one to carve, and the other one to decorate and put in the Library's pumpkin decorating contest. I can't wait to see what both of them turn out like! Here's our photos from the Pumpkin Patch:

Rheanna's 9th Birthday Party!!

This year for Rheannas Birthday Party, she wanted to have her party at home! Her explanation of why she wanted to have her party at home: "Kimmie, I want to have my party here [home] this year." Me: "Any reason why?" Rhea: "Well if we have it here we don't have to spend any money!" Then Jacob chimes in: "Well, you could have a Bowling Party! Or Skating!" Rhea: "NO!! We will have to spend money if we do that! Gosh Jacob!" ......They sat there debating back and forth for a second. I sat back and listened to both of their points. Although I was definitely on Rheannas side! LOL! It was finally decided we were having her Party at the house! Rheanna had it set in her mind that she was having her party at the house, and no one was going to change her mind! .............I guess all my preaching on bargain shopping was actually working!! Who would have knew!! (Every time we got to the store, no matter what it is for, I always bargain shop! And I have always been teaching the kids this as well. For instance, Rhea needed some head bands for school. She had picked out some at Claires. It was 2 of them for $5. But if we got them from Target she could get 5 headbands for $3.97. Which is the better deal? You guessed it! To Target we went. She has caught on really well and always looks at the prices now. She does pretty good in the grocery store to!) Ok, enough rambling about that!!!
We had her Birthday party at our house on the Saturday before her actually birthday! We had a great turn out!! All our friends and family came! She even got a special phone call from Grandpa Jerry! He called and had to wish his Princess Happy Birthday! It is always nice to hear from him and Jane! Hopefully we will get to visit them soon!  Rhea had loads of fun! And said it was the best Birthday EVER!!
Mo and So helped out of course, as always! Mo made the Brisket and SoSo made Rheannas 'cake'( peanut butter rice krispies, one of my favorites) She got lots of great gifts and we were happy that everyone came out to celebrate!!

Rheas surprise from me and Daddy!

Happy Birthday Rhea!!

Another Just Realized Moment......Splashway!

Here is another blog I simple forgot about posting! Can't believe it, cause we had so much fun there! Splashway! After the Fishing Tournament in Palacios we came back home and got a good night sleep for  Monday! We went to Splashway in Sheridan! Last year we went to Schlitterbahn we had loads of fun, but we wanted something more kid friendly. So I found a great deal on Groupon, once again, for half price tickets! They sold out like hotcakes and glad I got some in enough time! We left mid-morning and got to Splashway at just the right time. The kids had a blast! They loved it! Rheanna was the dare-devil of us all, she went on the new slides they had. They were HUGE! And one was a straight drop off, but she showed all of us up!! She went down it TWICE!!!  We had a great time and we definitely will be going back next year!
Here are a few pics:

Just Realized.....

I just realized looking at our blog that I never wrote about the Annual Palacios Fishing Tournament we go to every year! Well, I will make it short and sweet!

The Palacios Fishing Tournament is always on Saturday right before school starts in August. We load up the camper on Friday and head to Serendipity in Palacios. We love to stay at Serendipity! There is a lot of people from E.C. that keep their campers down there year round and they also have kids around the same age as Rhea and Jake. Friday night we sign-in and they have a Shrimporee for us. Saturday is when we can officially start fishing starting at 4am until 6pm. Weight-in starts around 3pm and you have to finish checking everything in by 6pm. We have a friend of ours take us out on his boat early in the morning, and the kids we stay with SoSo and fish at the Turning Basin and at Aunt Mary Kay and Uncle Tommy's pier.

We left Saturday morning around 5:45 - 6:00. It was beautiful to see the sun rise. We didn't catch much, but Jonathan did bring in a good one! We headed back in around 1:45. We got back to camp and took a quick dip in the pool to cool off! It was so HOT!!! (Usually I will take my shirt off and fish with my bathing suit on. But not this time, it was so HOT I was afraid to take off my shirt, I might reallllllly Burn Up!) We met the kids at the Turning Basin and fished for just a little bit and everyone came back to camp. The rest of the time we had left we fished off the pier at Serendipity. That is where Rhea and Daddy caught the prize winning Hardhead! A little while later we all went to go check-in. The kids turned in a little bit of everything. And me and Jonathan turned in whatever we had! The RESULTS.....................................

Rheanna got 2nd place on her Hardhead!
Jacob got 4th place on his Pinfish!
Jonathan and I got 3rd place in Family Division!!
We all did GREAT!! Rheanna received a trophy and bait bucket aerator. Jacob received a trophy and a net. And Jonathan and I won $75.00 ...........Which pretty much paid for our trip down there. LOL!

When we got back to Serendipity the kids kept seeing jellyfish, so they took their nets at set out to catch jellyfish. They caught lots of jellyfish and knew every species name too! I guess they did learn a lot at the Aquarium this Summer!

Looking for Jellyfish
Rheanna caught a cabbage head jellyfish
Jacob caught a Moon Jelly.
 Well Until Next Time......God Bless!
