My Labor Story

It was Wednesday June 26th, my last day at work. I had a doctors appt. at 10:30 to check the progress of everything and make the final details on inducing me on Friday the 28th. Since I had arrived at work in the morning my back had been hurting. This wasn't anything new my back had hurt all throughout my pregnancy. I walked around for a little bit and then sat back down at my desk. As I was sitting it felt as though the baby had punched down with all his might. I remember saying, " Ouch, that one kind of hurt!" I stood up and then the water started to flow. My water broke!! I couldn't believe it! I looked up at Cherie and said "Oh my God, my water just broke!" I called Jonathan right away and luckily he was at the pit and said he would try to get home as fast as he could!

I got in my car and headed to the house. I tried to call my Mom but didn't get an answer. Next I called my grandma, luckily my Mom was there and she said she would be at my house right away. I then called the doctors office and let them know I was going to the hospital. When I got to my house I ran inside to the bathroom and just stood in the tub until my Mom got there. ( I was still leaking fluid and lots of it!) When Mom arrived she got all of our belongings together and put them in the car. Then she kept asking me if I was having any contractions. I couldn't feel any contractions but my back was killing me! Come to find out later I having back labor. Jonathan finally got home and away we went to the hospital.

Once we arrived at the hospital they sent us straight to our own room. Our nurse Terry came in and started me on an IV and asked if I needed any pain meds or if I was going to do an epidural. I had original planned to try and stray away from pain meds, and an epidural just scared the crap out of me. After she explained the differences between just meds or epidural I felt a little more at ease but still wanted to wait it out. She then checked and I was dilated to a 4 and completely effaced, this was at 12. They then started the pitocin to help things keep moving along but the Pitocin made the contractions come faster and stronger and I could definitely feel them now! At around 2:30 I could no longer take it and asked for the epidural. By this time I was dilated to a 6 and my contractions were very close together so they shut off the Pitocin. Let me just tell you that the Epidural was a god send! After getting the epidural I was actually able to enjoy labor and have a wonderful birthing experience. The nurse came in about 5:45 and said I was fully dialted and we would start pushing in about 10 minutes. My nurse Terry was AMAZING! She was great at coaching me through each push and kept both me and Jonathan up beat. Finally after what seemed like waiting forever, I began pushing at 5:55pm. With Jonathan by my side helping me through each push 20 minutes later we welcomed our perfect little boy into the world.

As he was coming out they had to hurry and cut the cord because it was wrapped around his neck twice. They then laid him upon my chest, I was speechless. After waiting 9 long months I finally got to see my baby boy. The nurse then took him got his weight and measurements, wrapped him up and handed him back to me. While all this was going on the doctors were working on me. After holding him for what seemed liked only a few seconds but was more like 5 minutes they asked Jonathan to take the baby. I was bleeding a lot and they couldn't seem to figure out from where. I spent the next 30 minutes just watching Jonathan hold and love on Parker while I laid there helplessly. Finally the doctor stopped the bleeding and was able to stitch me back up. When Parker was coming out he had tore my cervix from the inside so that is why they couldn't see it. Luckily everything was ok and I was cleaned up and then got to enjoy my new bundle of joy!!

Giving birth was a feeling I can not explain but I can tell you that seeing Parkers beautiful face every morning makes everything worth while. He is my everything and my love for him is unending.

Welcome to the World, Parker!

On June 26th 2013 we welcomed our precious baby boy Parker Wallace Eide. He was born at Memorial Hermann in Sugarland at 6:16pm weighing 7lbs. 9oz. and measuring 20 inches long.

He is perfect and we couldn't be more blessed to have a healthy baby boy!
